How to use and dosage of the drug
It is prescribed in the form of syrup for adults in the form of 15 ml (15.4 mg codeine) not more than 4 times a day, at least 6 hours apart.
In children, the syrup for children should be administered in children aged 2.5 to 5 years 5-10 ml/day (3.3-6.6 mg codeine); 5 to 8 years – 10 ml/day; 8 to 12 years – 30-45 ml/day; 12 to 15 years – 45-60 ml/day. The daily dose is divided into several doses, the interval between doses should be at least 6 hours.
The drug should be administered only for a short time, to relieve cough episodes.

Patients taking this medicine should refrain from potentially dangerous activities that require high attention and quick psychomotor reactions, because drowsiness and reduced ability to concentrate may occur.
Overdose of medicine
Symptoms observed in adults: depression of respiratory center function (cyanosis, difficulty in breathing), drowsiness, vomiting, pruritus, maculopapular rash, ataxia; rarely – pulmonary edema.
Symptoms observed in children (toxic threshold at a single dose of 2 mg/kg body weight): bradypnoea, respiratory distress, miosis, convulsions, urtic rash, collapse, urinary retention.
Treatment: respiratory recovery. Administration of naloxone.
Interaction with other drugs.
When using Neo-Codion concomitantly, the effect of drugs with CNS depressant effect (opioid analgesics, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, clonidines and others) increases.
When concomitant use with Neo-Codion, morphine derivatives may increase inhibition of respiratory center function.
When used concomitantly, ethanol increases the sedative effect of Neo-Codion.
